Classic Aero-TV: The 'Skye' Is No Limit - A Marenco Swisshelicopter Update

From 2017: Marenco Swiss Helicopter Optimistic About SKYe SH09 European Certification

Getting a new aircraft on the market is always a challenge. The Marenco Swisshelicopter SKYe SH09 flew for the first time in October 2014, and now the company is starting to see some activity in its order book.

At Heli-EXPO 2017, Andreas Lowenstein, Marenco Swisshelicopter CEO, told Aero-New CEO and Editor in Chief Jim Campbell that the company is very close to receiving a type certificate for the aircraft. He said that the European certification process is proceeding well, and that the second prototype is now flying, and a third should be flying by the end of May or Early June. The first production aircraft should be flying sometime in 2018, he said.

Lowenstein said that the SKYe SH09 is suitable for a number of missions. It has good high-and-hot performance with large payloads.

Lowenstein said that because of its versatility, the SKYe SH09 is the "Swiss Knife" of the helicopter segment. "We will be able to do much more with this aircraft than the competition can do," he said.
