Embraer Posts Q1 Delivery Figures

40 Aircraft Delivered Through March

Embraer delivered 40 aircraft to the Commercial and Executive aviation segments during the first quarter of 2009. On March 31, 2009, the Brazilian planemaker's firm order backlog totaled US$ 19.7 billion.

Of the 40 aircraft delivered by Embraer in Q1 '09, 32 were for the Commercial Aviation segment and eight for Executive Aviation. On the Commercial side, Embraer delivered one new ERJ145, five E-170s and three E-175s, and 17 E-190 and six E-195 aircraft.

The planemaker delivered two Legacy 600 business jets, and six of its new Phenom 100 very-light jets.

During Q1 2009, Embraer delivered the first Embraer 195 jets to Air Dolomiti, which is a regional airline in northern Italy that belongs to Lufthansa, and Japan's Fuji Dream Airlines received its first Embraer 170. At the same time, ECC Leasing Company Limited -- an Irish subsidiary of Embraer -- signed a contract with Brazil's Federal Police Department (DPF) for the sale of a second pre-owned ERJ 145 jet.

In the Defense and Government segment, Embraer announced a new contract for the sale of the Super Tucano in Latin America, in March -- this time, to Ecuador, which acquired 24 aircraft -- raising the total orders for the single-turboprop trainer and light attack aircraft to 169.

Embraer also announced the signing of two important long-term (10 year) service contracts in the first quarter, for the Pool replacement parts program. The first, with Petroecuador – Empresa Estatal Petróleos del Ecuador, was in support of the ERJ 145 jet operated by the Ecuadorean company, and the other came through Embraer Asia Pacific (EAP), a Company subsidiary in Singapore, with Japan Airlines (JAL), in support of the Embraer 170 jets operated by J-AIR, a wholly owned subsidiary of JAL.
