STC'd: Crownair/Southern Star C210 Entegra Installation

Deliveries Of Avidyne-Equipped Centurion Edition May Begin

A truly innovative retrofit glass-panel application has won FAA approval. Avidyne announced Thursday that through its partnership with Southern Star Avionics of Mobile, AL, and Crownair Aviation, Inc. of San Diego, the company has received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the installation of Avidyne's Entegra integrated flight deck in Cessna 210 and T210 Series single-engine piston aircraft.

The Avidyne Entegra suite is part of Crownair's "Centurion Edition" refurbishment program. As ANN reported, the package includes the dual-display Entegra Glass Flight Deck, a new S-TEC 55X autopilot, Hartzell Scimitar Heated Prop, WAAS-capable GPS systems, new paint, a new deluxe interior, extensive engine modifications, and a J.P. Instruments digital engine monitor.

"Crownair's 210 retrofit program will provide these aircraft owners with the latest in safety and situational awareness capabilities and a beautiful new panel for a fraction of the cost of buying a new airplane," said Tom Greer, President, Southern Star Aviation. "We appreciate the opportunity to partner with Crownair and Avidyne to leverage our certification expertise and and help to make big-glass flight deck retrofits available to a larger population of general aviation aircraft."

"Entegra's beautiful 10.4-inch displays provide a stunning panel upgrade that complements all the other improvements we are making to these aircraft as part of our Centurion Edition program," said Grant Murray, CEO of Crownair Aviation. "It's a great match of yet another proven aircraft with the legendary ease-of-use of Avidyne's avionics, and we are very pleased to have developed a partnership with Southern Star to get this aircraft added to their AML."

The 210 and T210 were once Cessna's top-of-the-line single-engine piston aircraft, and are still widely used IFR cross-country cruisers. The STC provides the basis for future installations of the Entegra suite into all Cessna 210-series planes built between 1959 and 1985.

"With over 8,400 produced, the Cessna 210 series is one of the most popular high-performance single-engine piston aircraft, and Crownair's Centurion Edition upgrade increases its performance and utility," said Rob Higby, Avidyne's vice president of sales, marketing, and customer service. With their deep experience and broad expertise, Southern Star continues to be an invaluable partner in adding yet another STC to our expanding Entegra Retrofit AML."

In addition to the Cessna 210 series, Entegra systems are also available for retrofit in a growing list of aircraft makes and models including Cessna 441 Conquest IIs, King Air 200s, and King Air 90 Series turboprops, Cessna 300 and 400 Series piston twins, and pre-Entegra-equipped Cirrus SR20 and SR22 single-engine piston aircraft. Southern Star holds the AML STC for the entire list of single-PFD aircraft installations.
