Flight Design USA Opens New Headquarters in Woodstock, CT

It's moving time for up and coming LSA heavyweight, Flight Design USA. The company has just completed a move to a new headquarters in South Woodstock, Connecticut. The new 5000 square-foot facility is home to the company's import operation as well as the headquarters of Flightstar kits and the sales and service of HKS engines. South Woodstock is in the northeast corner of the state conveniently situated between Interstate 84 and Interstate 395. The airport identifier is 64CT.

Tom Peghiny, president of Flight Design USA, said, "The Ellington, Connecticut airport has been home to Flight Design USA since 1992, however, we outgrew the available space. We found an ideal location on the South Woodstock Airport, and began construction of our new headquarters in 2005. We're delighted to have completed the relocation and are now functioning in the new site."

Peghiny thanked South Woodstock Airport owner Rudy Tomasik for his support in making the move.

"Rudy cooperated with us to make this move as easy as possible. He was dedicated to getting our company onto this airport to serve as an anchor business to keep this airport viable. We appreciate his efforts."

Peghiny noted that now that the move is complete it will increase the company's efficiency, "Our sales, flight operations, and service facilities are now located within the same building, making the efforts of our staff more productive."

To be a good neighbor in the quaint, New England community, Flight Design chose a building style that fits in with the local atmosphere. "This is a community of red barns and traditional New England homes; we wanted our facility to blend in to that scene," said Peghiny. The privately owned airport features a 2,200-foot asphalt runway (1/19) and is located in Class E airspace. Flight Design USA's new home is located at 91 Route 169, South Woodstock, CT, 06267

Flight Design USA's sister companies, HPower Ltd. and Flightstar Sportsplanes also call the new facilities home, along with dedicated parts storage for the CT, an engine shop to support HKS engines, and flight testing and maintenance facilities to support all three product lines.

The all-composite, two-place CT features a 49-inch wide cockpit with side-by-side seating. It is powered by a 100-hp Rotax 912S engine and equipped with a BRS ballistic parachute as standard. With a top speed of 120 knots, CT cruises at 112 knots and stalls at 39 knots.
