Global Flyer Window Stretches To Feb. 11th

Fossett, Branson Looking For The Right Weather

You know the old saw by now -- "If you want to go far, go by car." Somewhere in a Salina, KS, hotel room, that's got to be running through the minds of people working on the Global Flyer 'round-the-world project.

The initial plan called for departure early this month. But the jet stream has refused to cooperate and delayed the launch of Fossett's record attempt. Last week, ANN reported the attempt had been delayed because the jet stream had shifted so far north that, flying in it (because of the much-needed tailwind it would offer) would mean a shorter journey than called for in the record-attempt flight plan.

That jet stream issue continues to plague the Global Flyer team. In a period of just a couple of days, the launch date has slipped from February 6th to February 8th and now, to February 11th.
