Northrop Grumman, Triumph Group To Ramp Up Aircraft Assembly
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the purpose of successfully ramping up high altitude long endurance unmanned aircraft system (UAS) production rates has been signed between Northrop Grumman and Triumph Group.
“We are implementing multiple process and production improvements to significantly reduce flow days. We’re making important investments in tooling and talent to improve schedule, quality and cost for the systems.”
Over the next five years, Triumph and Northrop Grumman will commit resources to facilitate continued mutual success of high altitude long endurance systems. The signing of the MOU reinforces the long-term agreement between senior leadership of both companies to support our customers by ensuring successful execution of numerous systems in the 2016-2026 planning period.
“Northrop Grumman is a very important customer; and we are pleased to continue to partner with them by delivering high quality, UAS compliant wings,” said Dan Crowley, Triumph president and CEO. “We are implementing multiple process and production improvements to significantly reduce flow days. We’re making important investments in tooling and talent to improve schedule, quality and cost for the systems.”
“Through our partnership with Triumph, Northrop Grumman has delivered and will continue to deliver unmatched capabilities in autonomous high altitude, long endurance systems to customers worldwide,” said Tom Vice, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems.
Under the MOU, the companies will support near-term delivery commitments, achieve knowledge transfer and enhance future quality and affordability for the program. Northrop Grumman mechanics, engineers, and support staff will assist Triumph in its wing transition to production objectives on an interim basis to facilitate the increased production. Both companies agree to collaborate and jointly take further actions as necessary to meet or exceed the wing delivery plan.
