Flight School Owner Accused Of Unauthorized Passenger Flights

FAA: Rudi Dekkers' Lears Flew Uncertified

Rudi Dekker, owner of Huffman Aviation Services in Venice (FL), is in trouble again.

Huffman is where 9/11 hijackers Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi trained before attacking the World Trade Center and Pentagon three years ago. But it's Dekker's former company, Ambassador Aviation, that's now accused of flying passengers for hire without an air carrier operating certificate.

The FAA and federal prosecutors accuse Dekker and the pilots of three other Ambassador-operated Learjets of flying 26 times without the proper certification. Prosecutors in a Fort Myers (FL) federal court want a judge to fine Dekker $11,000 for each episode. That would come to a total of $286,000.

Federal prosecutors wouldn't comment on the allegations, except to say they're civil in nature and not related to the 9/11 attacks.

Dekker couldn't be reached for comment.
