New Reality Show To Follow Flight Attendants

"Fly Girls" Will Focus on Virgin America

With so many reality tv shows out there, it was bound to happen eventually; a reality show based on airline employees.  Actually, it happened in 2004 when the A&E series "Airline" followed a variety of Southwest employees for three seasons.

It isn't exactly déjà-vu: This time the airline is Virgin America and the focus is only on five young women who are flight attendants.  The show is taking cues from other augmented-reality shows by having the stars conveniently share a crash pad in LA.

"This show is about real, down-to-earth young women who happen to have landed in an exceptionally glamorous, high-flying career filled with exotic locations and handsome strangers," said Kristen Vadas, Senior Vice President, Alternative Programming, The CW.  "We're thrilled to be working with Virgin America for this unique peek into a whirlwind lifestyle that shows how tough it is to be grounded when you work 35,000 feet in the air."

The CW hopes the young women dealing with "work lives that include split-second decision-making, demanding and sometimes fascinating passengers, long hours in the air and layovers in interesting locales" will be a hit with their tween to twenty-something audience.  The series will also conveniently showcase several Virgin America destinations including Las Vegas, South Beach and New York City.

The CW is planning to air eight half-hour episodes starting in January 2010.
