Lancair Destroyed in Serious Crash

Both Aboard Injured

It is unclear just what happened Monday afternoon, as the Lancair 360 landed at Cox Sky Ranch airport on Alcoa Highway near Knoxville (TN).

Glenn Griffin of Knoxville, identified as the owner/pilot, broke his leg and sustained additional damage; his unidentified passenger, we are told, received very much-more-serious injuries.

Both men went by ambulance to the nearby University of Tennessee Medical Center.

The lovely airplane (file photo) was demolished in the crash, though there was no postcrash fire. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
