Replacement Crew Docks with ISS

Pack Your Bags, We're Going Home!

They're here! Commander Leroy Chiao and Cosmonaut Salizhan Sharipov watched as their replacements arrived at about 10:20 p.m. EDT Saturday. They have been preparing by cleaning the space station and starting to pack away their things for their trip home.

The Soyuz spaceship carried the 11th Internation Space Station crew, Cosmonaut Sergie Krikalev and Astronaut John Phillips. The spacecraft automatically docked without a problem, although Krikalev was standing by.

Also on board is an Italian, European Space Agency Astronaut Roberto Vittori. He will stay on the station for about eight days conducting experiments before returning home with Chiao and Sharipov. They will leave the station on April 24th in the Soyuz that brought them to the station, with a planned landing at 6:08 p.m. EDT in Kazakhstan.

The new crew is scheduled to greet the space shuttle when it returns to the ISS.
