Opts For PurePower 1133G-JM For The Aircraft
Hawaiian Airlines has selected the Pratt & Whitney PurePower 1133G-JM engine to power its new fleet of Airbus A321neo aircraft. Pratt & Whitney will also provide off-wing engine maintenance via its PureSolution Fleet Management Program.
"We are continuing our commitment to invest in cutting-edge equipment and technology that will be kinder on our environment and, through greater fuel efficiency, kinder on everyone's pocketbooks," said Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian's president and CEO. "The new technology PurePower engines are part of Hawaiian's commitment to find new ways to reduce the cost of travel to the benefit of our customers and to our tourism-dependent community."
Pratt & Whitney's PurePower engine uses an advanced gear system allowing the engine's fan to operate at a different speed than the low-pressure compressor and turbine. The combination of the gear system and an all-new advanced core delivers double-digit improvements in fuel efficiency and environmental emissions as well as a 50 percent reduction in noise.
Hawaiian plans to use the long-range, single-aisle A321neo to complement Hawaiian's existing fleet of wide-body, twin-aisle B767 and A330 aircraft used for long-haul flying between Hawai'i and the U.S. West Coast.
"We are delighted that Hawaiian Airlines is extending its long relationship with Pratt & Whitney and we look forward to providing Hawaiian with reliable and efficient engines for many years to come," said Todd Kallman, president, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines.
