Van's Still Closed While Staff Deals With Wildfires

Hopes To Open Their Doors, Later Today, Tuesday

It's hard not to worry about the folks at Van's Aircraft, who have been under the threat of the numerous wildfires that have plagued much of the West Coast these last few weeks,

As noted previously, Van's sent their staff home to protect their families and home the middle of last week and has shuttered all their operations in the meantime... with hopes that they'll be able to open for some bushiness later today, Tuesday the 15th. The wildfire issue has been sweeping much of the West Coast and the most recent meteorology hasn't helped the situation much. Thousands of responders have been putting themselves at risk to deal with this situation and will probably have to do so, for some time.

The company has posted info and video (pictured above -- which looks like it was shot on the surface of Mars...) to Facebook and kept up a running report on their website to let everyone know what's happening.

Monday's missive noted that, "Van’s Aircraft plans to open on Tuesday morning. Due to wildfires in the area and related evacuations, we anticipate that we will be partially-staffed due to the displacement of some of our staff members. As a result, please understand that our services may be limited this week. You should anticipate delays in telephone and email communications.

No will-call services will be provided at the factory this week.

We appreciate, in advance, your understanding and continued support.

Thank you to everyone for the thoughts, prayers, kind words and messages of support over the past few days. Smoke conditions on the ground here have worsened in the area, even as the fire progression danger has slowed somewhat. The Van’s factory is safe and the airport is being used to stage firefighting and rescue aircraft.  Many of our staff, friends and neighbors who live in the wildfire-affected areas are not yet able to return home as the fire continues and progress, albeit not nearly as quickly as it was progressing last week.

We recently enacted a factory closure due to wildfires in the area, which have resulted in very poor air quality and evacuations in the surrounding areas. Many of our staff members have had to evacuate their homes with their families, while others are on standby to do so. As such, a significant number of our staff members are displaced and have pressing family responsibilities. We are, of course, telling our team members to take care of family first.

We apologize for any inconvenience and ask for your understanding during this dynamic and unpredictable time."

ANN continues to wish everyone at Van's the best, under the circumstances... stay safe!
