Three Clubs Join Forces To Present Event Free To The Public
On Saturday, November 2nd starting at 1100 EDT the Blue Ridge Radio Control Club (BRRC), Western Carolina Radio Control Club (WCRC) and Firetower Fliers will be performing at a free-to-attend Radio Controlled (RC) Aircraft Show at the Greenville Downtown Airport (GMU) in South Carolina.
This soaring "Over-the-Top" RC aerobatic event will feature airplanes and helicopters that are capable of flying up to 200 miles per hour, and range in weight from 1 ounce to over 55 pounds. Come see these unmanned aerial vehicles do high frequency touch-and-gos, figure 8's, hover, slow roll, fly inverted and do all sorts of other cool maneuvers in unusual traffic patterns.
"This family friendly event can be seen from our new free-to-use public park, so bring out your chairs or blankets to sit on and enjoy the show; or watch it while having lunch at the Runway Cafe," stated Joe Frasher, GMU's Airport Director.
"The last RC show at the Downtown Airport was on Labor Day Weekend back in 2010," stated Brian Couch, BRRC member. "We wanted to come back bigger and better this time, and also see if we could help raise some money for the new aviation themed community park. Our club will raffle off a great trainer plane with flying lessons (a $600 value), and we will also allow people several turns to try and hit some special planes with paint balls for just $5. All funds raised will be used to help complete the park." added Couch.
