Barnstorming: Are You a Friend of Bob’s??? If Not… Do You Want to be?

Building A Supportive Community to Enhance The ‘Let Bob Fly” Program

Within you now is the power to do things you never dreamed possible. This power becomes available to you just as soon as you change your beliefs. — Maxwell Maltz

Greetings all…

My apologies for the tardiness of this latest ‘Let Bob Fly’ update… but to be perfectly honest, the last few months have been like drinking from the firehose… and we’re researching, learning and absorbing knowledge at a breathtaking rate. Still, it does seem to be time to come up, breathe, and start to implement some much-needed processes.

OK… let me explain (or try to) -- the ‘Let Bob Fly’ documentary program and the learning process attached to it has been THE MOST intense effort we’ve ever undertaken—and in some truly surprising ways… and could well be the most productive. It all started with Bob Hoover’s personal request to us to help him empower the aviation community to ensure that future aviators never have to experience what he did. This has become an inspirational endeavor greater than any we’ve EVER conceived of. Mind you; it's beating us up in many ways, it’s an incredible amount of work, and it's requiring us to expand our knowledge pool dramatically (and along some diverse study lines)… but we’re growing ever more sure/proud of its direction and import.

And yes… all that help we talked about needing from each and every one of you?

Well, it’s time to start asking for it.

What Bob’s request started, is turning out to be so much more than we first conceived -- and far more powerful than we hoped.

All that comes about as a result of four major efforts.

  • An extraordinary brainstorming process that has spanned consults with hundreds (REALLY) of people.
  • The immense support (and from some surprising people) we’ve been finding, everywhere we go, to push forward with this program.
  • And the intense need, expressed by so very many, for THE pivotal/disruptive event necessary to jumpstart aviation’s recovery and to find solutions for many of our major aero-maladies.
  • The growing number of synergistic ideas and concepts that either enhance this effort or are enhanced by it… in other words, new projects/ideas are being suggested and discovered as a result of every day’s efforts and lessons.

I don’t think I’ve ever been involved in anything this complex, this rewarding, and/or with this much potential.
As we’ve studied, discussed, brainstormed and challenged ourselves since taking on Bob’s mission, we’ve been astounded at the education (and not always at our request) that has come our way… and the incredible ideas that have been brought forth as a result.

No kidding… we’re building something TRULY amazing here… and the import of this effort seems to grow stronger by the day. And yes… this effort will take us far beyond the initial documentary… a topic we’ll be discussing more and more as we progress.

Most important, though, is the fact that we have (as always) refused to limit ourselves... that we are creating something far in excess of what we hoped for -- and far greater than we imagined – meaning that the result could (and should) be incredibly disruptive… and, frankly, that’s what aviation needs more than anything else - a serious, disruptive kick in the keister.

Worlds are changed and recreated by disruptive efforts… and I’m here to tell you… we mean to be highly disruptive. But in a really good way (grin).

Something truly profound is contained within the core of this effort… I had no name for it until recently, when my necessarily voracious reading habits brought me to a term that describes this wonderfully… we’re building a ‘karass.’

A karass is an intriguing term… first coined by Kurt Vonnegut. Basically, it is a spontaneously forming group, joined by unpredictable links, that actually gets stuff done. I like the concept… and it seems to fit what we’re heading for.

We won’t unveil the Official Corporate or Crowd-Funding programs for a few more weeks… but in order to lay the foundation for that and other efforts, we’re going to initiate a basic Founder’s Funding effort (actually, two of them) right away… and we really would appreciate YOUR help and support to get the foundation built for our coming aims and efforts.

To bring this to fruition we are already assembling and undertaking the search for necessary resources such as:

Writers, a Director, Camera Unit(s), Sound Unit(s), Effects, Interview subjects, Narrators/Presenters, Specialized Rights and Permissions, Music Rights, Stock Footage, Research fees, Location fees, Equipment Rental/Purchase, Recording Materials, TRAVEL, FOOD, LODGING, Video and Script Editing, Studio recording, DVD's/BluRay production... as well as the usual expenses inherent in running a complex business.

And later this week; we're going to announce the first stage of our Fund-Raising programs...

But -- first we're going to open the door to seeking some volunteers that can help us with all manner of tasks ahead of us... Marketing/PR, Research and Documentation, Project Management, Aero-Community Outreach, Fund-Raising support, Blog Support, Newsletter Support and so much more. If you want to get involved in an exciting new program... one that can and WILL shake things up... and you want to be a part of aviation's future, send us a resume and a note describing how you might be helpful and we'll get back to you ASAP.

As we’ve studied, discussed, brainstormed and challenged ourselves since taking on Bob’s mission, we’ve been astounded at the education that has come our way… and the incredible ideas that have been brought forth as a result. And yet, we're excited at the prospect of the people we'll meet, the lessons we'll learn, and the ways in which we will serve aviation's future. This is going to be a huge amount of work... and truly inspiring, to boot.

We're going to need ALL the help we can get to not only pull this off... but to to lay a Foundation for even bigger and better things. We hope we'll have your support... we hope we'll have your involvement... and we hope our efforts will lead to a better aero-future for you all.

Will chat at you again shortly...
