Two Fatally Injured In Pennsylvania Accident

Flight Believed To Have Been A Flight Review

Two men, both certified pilots and one a flight instructor, were fatally injured Sunday when the Piper PA-28 they were flying went down "under unknown circumstances" according to the FAA near Goshen, PA.

The two have been identified as Richard Poch, a 67-year-old resident of West Chester, PA, and 64-year-old Joseph Deal of Drexel Hill. Poch had been a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force as was a certified flight instructor.

The online news site dailylocal.com reports that officials say the flight was believed to have been a required flight review. Witnesses said that they heard the engine "sputtering intermittently." The plane reportedly banked sharply before it went down. The plane was almost completely consumed by a post-impact fire.

FAA records indicated that the plane was a  1965 Cherokee 140 registered to Deal. It's most recent airworthiness certificate had been issued in October 2004, and was set to expire this year.
