AD: Airbus SAS Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2019-12-16

PRODUCT: Certain Airbus SAS Model A350-941 airplanes.

ACTION:Final rule; request for comments.

SUMMARY: This AD was prompted by a report that the capability of the diagonal struts fitted at a certain frame is below the expected design specifications.

This AD requires replacing the original diagonal struts at a certain frame with new, improved parts, as specified in an European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD, which is incorporated by reference.

DATES: This AD becomes effective July 23, 2019. Comments must be received by August 22, 2019.

COST: Currently, there are no affected U.S.-registered airplanes. If an affected airplane is imported and placed on the U.S. Register in the future, the FAA provides the following cost estimates to comply with this AD:

  • Labor: 5 work-hours × $85 per hour = $425. Parts: $37,500. Cost per airplane: $37,925.
