Microdrones Expands Operations Into North America

German Manufacturer Has Merged With North American Company

The loosening of restrictions in the U.S. regarding use of unmanned aerial vehicles for commercial purposes has unlocked vast markets and opportunities throughout North America. To serve these new markets, German UAV manufacturer, microdrones has merged with Avyon, the North American UAV solutions provider that brought the microdrones brand to North America three years ago.

With 60 employees working in offices in the United States, Canada and Germany, microdrones expands its commercial footprint, building on a 10-year legacy as the first commercial VTOL UAV manufacturer. Microdrones customers now receive local sales and services support in the US and Canada.

“Those in the UAV industry are very familiar with the microdrones brand and reputation,” explained Vivien Heriard-Dubreuil, President of the newly-expanded company. He added, “Avyon built microdrones North American business, implementing successful solutions and services. The 2 companies are a natural and complementary fit. Our Avyon customers can expect the same excellent standards of service under the new microdrones brand.”

Sven Juerss, CEO of microdrones GmbH explained, “We have the most reliable product in the commercial UAV industry and we’ve had great success selling it in Europe. The opening of markets in the U.S. last year presented us with a tremendous opportunity for growth; I’m thrilled about this expansion and I’m excited for what the future will bring.”

In addition to offices in Siegen, Germany and Montreal, QC Canada, the company recently established a U.S. presence in Rome, N.Y. near the Griffiss International Airport and Business Park. Mike Dziok, Marketing Director for microdrones said, “Having grown up in the Mohawk Valley, it’s really exciting to help build a new industry and company in such close proximity to home. We’re going to help businesses collect information in ways that are safer and more efficient than conventional methods.”

Business Development Director Mike Hogan said, “microdrones is focusing on providing solutions for three main applications: surveying/mapping, precision agriculture and infrastructure inspection/planning. According to Hogan, “The microdrones platform and data collection solutions we’ve developed give surveyors, engineers and agronomists new ways to access their geospatial data and interpret it… so they can put it to work for making business decisions.”
