Aero-News Alert (Updated): Aero-Adventure Down During Sebring Fly-In

Update 1.17.15: Names Released

Officials have identified the two on board as as 56-year-old Dennis Gordon Day, of Groveland, and 44-year-old Jason Reid Spinks, of Orlando.

Update: Two On Board Fatally Injured

Multiple media sources are reporting that there were two people on board the aircraft when it went down Friday morning. Tampa Bay Online and television station WFLA both report that the plane with two people on board was participating in the Manufacturers Showcase at the show. The names of those on board have not yet been released.

Accident Occurred While Demonstrating Aircraft

A two-place Aero-Adventure amphibious airplane has gone down at the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo in Sebring, FL.

Details are still coming in, but the airplane was apparently flying near the flightline when it impacted terrain. There is currently no word on the condition of the person or persons on board.

The airplane is a two-place model of the Aero-Adventure kit-built airplane. Aero-Adventure offers two two-place models in their line ... the Aventura AVZ and the Aventura II V.

Weather at Sebring Regional Airport had been overcast with occasional rain and drizzle for the first few days of the show, but the weather had improved at the time the accident occurred, with some sunshine but somewhat breezy conditions in central Florida.

The airport has been closed while an initial investigation is conducted. Additional details will be posted when they become available.
