Cessna Selects AirCell Axxess Satcom for Citations

New System Becomes a Factory Option on Citation Sovereign, XLS and X

AirCell tells ANN that Cessna Aircraft Company has selected the AirCell Axxess satcom system as a factory option on Citation X, Sovereign and XLS business jets.

AirCell Axxess is an all-new, multi-channel, wireless and broadband-ready satcom system designed for medium-to-large business aircraft. The standard Axxess system includes two Iridium satellite communications channels for quality voice and narrowband data services. Through its integrated expansion ports, up to two additional Iridium channels can be added to suit the operator’s needs. In addition, through the system’s Ethernet port, operators can add an Inmarsat broadband connection on a plug-and-play basis.

Axxess’ standard, FAA-certified handsets include large, color displays – an industry first – as well as advanced noise cancelling technology and standard ear bud/headset jacks for clear, quiet calling.

“AirCell has enabled us to offer an affordable Iridium solution to our customers that desire worldwide, dual-channel airborne telephone capability,” said Joel Mugglin, Cessna International Customer Solution Manager.

“In addition, AirCell’s future plans for expansion of the system as well as a proven history of customer focus have given us a high degree of confidence in offering their new Axxess system on Citation aircraft.”

Axxess is slated to be available on Citation X, Sovereign and XLS aircraft beginning in the third quarter of 2006.

“We’re proud to continue our long association with Cessna, and proud that they share our vision for the future of airborne communications,” said Bill Peltola, AirCell Vice President, Sales & Marketing.

“Never before has so much capability been so affordable, and with new generations of broadband links becoming available in the next couple years, it will only get better.”
