Cirrus Wingtip Lights, New Bonanza Cowling are Highlights
The LoPresti family has been in business in Vero Beach, FL since
1987. In addition to the upcoming Fury aircraft, the family has a
variety of high performance STC's for aircraft -- including Hawker
jets, Bell helicopters, Mooney, Grumman and Piper piston and jet
aircraft.
LoPresti Speed Merchants showcased its new Bonanza cowling at
AirVenture, along with its Cirrus "TriTips" wingtip lights for SR20
and SR22 aircraft. Other product announcements included "ZipTips"
and cowling for Indus aircraft, Boom Beams for homebuilts, and FAA
approval of "Speed Spats" for Piper Cherokee applications.
The Bonanza cowling is said to add five knots in cruise, and
features a modern, clean appearance with signature LoPresti round
inlets for cooling. A LoPresti landing light can, of course, be
fitted to the cowling. Engine access is improved by incorporating a
removable upper section. “Every mechanic will love it," says
RJ Siegel, LoPresti’s VP of Operations. Installation time is
said to take three days, and FAA approval for the Bonanza cowling
is expected in time for Lakeland 2008.
TriTips allow Cirrus owners to add two High Intensity Discharge
lights on the wingtips of their SR20 or SR22, LoPresti is already
the OEM supplier of HID landing lights for Cirrus, and TriTips
allow Cirrus owners to improve on a good thing. With TriTips
installed, total light output should reach 1 million lumens. The
50-watt HID kits announced for RV-7 and RV-10 aircraft should also
project 1 million lumens.
Sporting a reduction in drag and fancy looks, Speed Spats for
Piper Cherokee applications have received FAA approval, according
to LoPresti. The 'Spats are composite construction and feature easy
access for wheel/tire maintenance.
Pricing information for the new products was not announced at
press time.
