FO Saves Baggage Handler While Making the Rounds

Pilot leadership in the Frontier Airlines family recognized one of their own who "likely saved the life of a ramp worker during an incident at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport last October." The Frontier Master Executive Council of the Air Line Pilots Association, International presented its own  MEC Safety Award to First Officer Joel Byler, citing his quick thinking to assist the ramper, who was injured while working around his aircraft. The incident took place while Byler was  performing a walk-around inspection outside the Airbus aircraft sitting on the ramp in preparation for a flight to Atlanta, Georgia.

The United States Navy placed an order for $1.3 billion worth of F/A-18 Super Hornets in Block III configuration, with the deal including the Technical Data Package that will be "vital to the sustainment of the program". It's funny to see, since expectations in many branches are subverted time and time again - The Lightning, ostensibly good to go and ready for duty, keeps getting shown up by new orders for decades-old legacy aircraft. This new Navy order will see the delivery of 17 aircraft in Super Hornet spec, and reactions are similar to those seen by a recent Air Force order for 144 F-15EX Eagles.

Netherlands ANSP LVNL and Altitude Angel broke news of a revamped iteration of GoDrone's flight planning app. While Altitude Angel may be somewhat unknown stateside, it's a big enough deal abroad, where GoDrone managed to secure a strong foothold in the domestic Dutch market since its launch in the Spring of 2020. The company's Unified Traffic Management software has continued to build speed at a number of British airfields, too, helping controllers to wrangle flight activity with a streamlined, digital suite of tools.

2 More Aircraft Ordered for Delivery to SOCOM Base

Joby Aviation committed to delivering an additional 2 eVTOL aircraft to MacDill Air Force Base under the branch's continued testing of novel tech. The delivery is set to take place next year under the AFWERX Agility Prime contract. Joby originally delivered the first of its eVTOLs to Edwards AFB in 2023. There's one more on tap for delivery there. Under the original Agility Prime contract, Joby can provide up to 9 aircraft, leaving 5 slots for future expansion. On February 24, 2024, about 1000 eastern standard time, a Bellanca 17-30A, N282SV, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Cape Coral, Florida. The pilot was not injured.
