Virgin Galactic is Hiring Pilot-Astronauts

Job Description Released For Test Program And Beyond

For some, it would be the ultimate dream job. Virgin Galactic has released the basic job description for applicants interested in becoming pilot-astronauts.

Pilot-astronaut responsibilities include the WhiteKnightTwo and SpaceShipTwo spaceflight system test program in accordance with government regulations and company policies in Mojave, CA and Virgin Galactic’s commercial operations at Spaceport America in New Mexico. Qualified candidates are full course graduates of a recognised test pilot school who are broadly experienced with both high-performance fast-jet type airplanes and large multi-engine types. Prior spaceflight experience is desirable.

Virgin Galactic is dedicated to becoming a world leader in sub-orbital commercial space tourism with a longer term vision to develop space technologies that have the potential to open space to significantly more people and users. Pilot-astronauts are a vital part of its efforts to creating a safe and enjoyable commercial suborbital space flight.

Virgin Galactic actively strives to promote innovation, value, integrity and a sense of enjoyment in all that it does.
