HAI2009: FAA Approves Sandel Reversionary Attitude Display

New Safety Feature Allows Display Of Attitude On Sandel's SN3500 and SN4500 Primary Navigation Displays

Sandel Avionics has received FAA approval for its SN3500 and SN4500 Primary Navigation Displays with Reversionary Attitude Mode. This new safety feature enables the display of integrated attitude and navigation information on the SN3500/SN4500 in event of failure of the primary attitude indicator.

"This is a significant safety enhancement for aircraft and helicopters," said Jerry Henry, Sandel's Director of Sales. "Pilots now have added capability in the cockpit in the event of failure of a primary attitude indicator."

FAA Part 25 approval for the Reversionary Attitude Mode was granted following a successful flight test in Sandel's Citation S/II test aircraft. The feature is controlled by the pilot through a remote switch. When activated, aircraft attitude is shown immediately on the Sandel Primary Navigation Display in an integrated format. Navigation information is overlaid and includes heading and lateral and vertical guidance for enroute or precision approaches, including GPS WAAS procedures. For situational awareness, the pilot retains the ability to momentarily show moving map, traffic and weather data if desired. The Reversionary Attitude Mode feature is available now for the 4" SN4500 and the 3" SN3500 PNDs.

Sandel is exhibiting in booth 2842 at Heli-Expo 2009.
