DeltaHawk And Kurt Manufacturing Sign Deal
DeltaHawk Engines LLC
and Kurt Manufacturing Company announced the signing of their
contractual agreement for the production of DeltaHawk Diesel
Aircraft Engines. Under the agreement, Kurt will manufacture
engines designed by DeltaHawk, to be marketed through DeltaHawks
International Distribution System.
The engines will range from 150 to 200 plus horsepower, all
operating on jet fuel rather than aviation gasoline. Initially
available to the experimental aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicle
(UAV) markets in 2004, FAA certification is anticipated in 2005.
The agreement combines the technology of DeltaHawk Heavy Fuel
engines and Kurt's manufacturing process. Engines built under the
agreement will be commercially available starting in the third
quarter of 2004.
DeltaHawk made aviation history last year when a Velocity RG
powered by DeltaHawk’s DH160V4 diesel engine lifted off for
an initial flight on Saturday, May 3, 2003 at John H. Batten
Field in Racine, Wisconsin. Flown by DeltaHawk Chief Engineer, Doug
Doers, the aircraft orbited Batten Airport at speeds up to 140
knots and reached an altitude of 5500 feet (Has since reached 176
Knots and 14,700 feet).
Following an aggressive flight test program with selected
business partners the engine will be released for commercial sale
in the experimental, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and specialized
industrial markets in early 2004. DeltaHawk’s marketing
program also envisions timely achievement of FAA certification.
