Omniflight Selects Sky Connect Voice, Text, And Tracking System

Will Be Launch Customer For New Dialer

Omniflight, one of the oldest and largest providers of air medical services in the United States, tells ANN it has selected the Sky Connect solution for its voice, text, and tracking needs.

Omniflight has agreed to purchase 42 Sky Connect systems, with an option for 35 more. Omniflight also will be the launch customer for Sky Connect's exclusive new NVG-compatible Dialer, which will enable them to integrate satellite communications systems in aircraft that use night-vision equipment. The dialer and other systems will be on display in the company's Heli-Expo 2007 exhibit at Booth 1110.

Omniflight pilots and crews will pioneer use of the 11-number NVG/NVIS Dialer, which enables them to dial 11 pre-stored numbers. The dialer interfaces with the Sky Connect tracking system with provisions for Emergency and Special status notifications.

"We're always looking for ways to improve our services. We saw the Sky Connect system as an opportunity not only to improve our communication efficiencies, but to enhance our safety margin as well”, said Bob Youngreen, Omniflight's Director of Maintenance.

"Sky Connect offered the solution we needed as we work to further integrate satellite tracking technology into our flight control centers," said Peter Heyer, Omniflight's Director of Communications. "We look forward to having Sky Connect on board."

Omniflight operates 65 helicopters and four fixed-wing aircraft that operate from some 51 locations across the United States.

Sky Connect's dialer products are designed for use in cockpits where components must meet strict guidelines for illumination during the use of night-vision goggles and may be immediately integrated for use in night-vision equipped cockpits.
