Scenes From A GA Disaster... Wilma Clobbers Lantana

Even Worse Than We Feared...

Good grief... not only do we have to contend with the worst whims of Mother Nature several times a year, but for some reason she seems intent in picking on some of the coolest airports on the face of the planet.

Particularly victimized with this most recent windy outing, Mother Nature, in the form of Hurricane Wilma, scoured the otherwise peaceful and oh-so-cool locale of Lantana Airport on the Southeast Florida coast and trashed nearly everything in sight... especially if it had any form of lifting surface attached.

ANN reader and Airplane Travel Guru, Thierry Pouille, of Air Journey LLC, sent us these photos... including an amazing photo of the hurricane displayed on a Garmin GPSMap. We really appreciate his help in telling this story.

It's another tragedy -- one of many. We hope the good folks of Lantana have as easy a time as possible getting back on their feet and that the insurance adjusters are both speedy as well as understanding. We'll keep you informed.

In the meantime, this is what Mother nature hath wrought... again.
