Czech Sport Aircraft Setting Up Shop In Sebastian, FL

Will Be Exclusive Import, Assembly And Service Center In North, Central And South America

Czech Sport Aircraft will establish an assembly and distribution facility at the Sebastian (FL) Municipal Airport (X26) where it will build LSAs in a new hangar scheduled to be completed this summer.

The TCPalm newspaper reports that the Sebastian City Council made a deal with the company in late April to bring the facility to the airport. The facility will be the exclusive import, assembly and service headquarters for all of North, Central and South America including the United States.

City Manager Joe Griffin told the paper that the planes will be manufactured in the Czech Republic, where the company is based, and then shipped in containers to Florida, where final assembly will be completed and the airplanes will be test-flown.

The company chose X26 because it is known as a "boutique" airport and is an uncontrolled field, according to Griffin. "We're small and there is a small amount of air traffic going in and out of the airport. And we have the space available at the right time,” he told TCPalm.

The company offers two models; the PS-28 Cruiser and the Sport Cruiser. They also support the existing fleet of PiperSport LSAs. The company hopes carve out a niche in the flight training business, as well as appeal to LSA buyers who are looking at the upper end of the price spectrum for such aircraft. They sell for about $150,000 each.
