Georgia Aviation Museum Benefit Planned

Candler Field Museum Raising Funds For A New Building

The Candler Field Museum in Williamson, GA will host a benefit dinner Saturday, March 20th, featuring Major General Pat Halloran. Maj. Halloran is a retired US Air Force pilot who will speak about his experiences flying both the famous SR-71 Blackbird spy plane as well as its predecessor, the U-2. 

General Halloran was one of the first pilots to fly the SR-71 spy plane. He also flew the U-2 spy plane and completed 100 combat missions flying in F-84s during the Korean War.
 
The museum plans to build the second of seven buildings recreating the sights and sounds of the original Candler Field Airport now known as Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The original Doug Davis hangar was constructed in 1925, and the museum plans on erecting a replica of the hangar as a second museum building. Davis was a famous 1930's era race pilot and Griffin, GA native. Proceeds from the dinner will go towards the construction of the new Doug Davis Hangar.

The event will be held at the Candler Field Museum with live music and a social hour beginning at 6 PM.  Dinner will be served at 7 PM with the formal program beginning at 8 PM.  Dress is business casual.  Donations for the dinner and program are $50 per person.
