GAMA Announces Winner Of Stimpson Aviation Excellence Award

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) -- which reprerents over 50 of the world's leading manufacturers of general aviation aircraft, engines, avionics and related equipment -- told Aero-News this week it has chosen Mr. Miles Tischhauser as its 2006 Edward W. Stimpson "Aviation Excellence" scholarship recipient. Mr. Tischhauser recently graduated with honors from Genoa-Kingston High School in Genoa, IL.

Mr. Tischhauser set his aviation career path into motion as a junior in high school by starting flying lessons at his local airport. During the school year, he also took several aviation related courses through the Kishwaukee Education Consortium Program for college credit.

While maintaining his excellent academic record, Mr. Tischhauser remained active in his community and participated in many extra curricular activities. He earned the honor of Eagle Scout this spring and capitalized on opportunities to build leadership skills as a member of the Student Council for four years and took part in the National Youth Leadership Program for six years. He was also a member of his high school football and track and field teams.

With the ultimate goal of becoming a commercial pilot, Mr. Tischhauser will pursue an associate's degree in Aviation Flight and Management this fall at Kishwaukee College in Malta, IL.

After receiving his degree and certified flight instructor certificate, he plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management while continuing to build flight time.

Sounds like Mr. Tischhauser is exactly the kind of person we need to carry the general aviation banner forward. Congratulations from Aero-News!
