Grand Adventure: Flying To All Lower 48 States

Two Women, Ages 90 And 84, Are Off On Their Trip

It's an adventure that many of us have dreamed about: fly to all 48 contiguous United States. And before you say "but I'm too old to embark on such an adventure," consider this.

A pair of women began just such an trip on Sunday. Mary Creason, the pilot is 90. The woman joining her, who was identified only as "Betty" in a report form television station WKTV, is 84. The pair will fly a Grumman AA-5B Tiger on their grand adventure. It was not reported whether Betty is a pilot as well.

The two live in Grand Haven, Michigan. Their first stop was Sunday in Buffalo, NY, and then the pair flew on to Syracuse. FlightAware confirmed that the plane touched down in Syracuse Sunday.

While they don't have a set itinerary for their trip, they plan to go next to Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire, according to the report.

Creason said she got permission from all four of her kids to make the flights. They told her "go for it, mom," she said.

Alaska and Hawaii are not in the pair's plans.
