GAMA Announces Dr. Harold S. Wood Scholarship Winner

Brent Knoblauch Is Founding VP Of School Aeronautical Honor Society

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) announced Wednesday Brent E. Knoblauch has been named this year's Dr. Harold S. Wood Scholarship recipient. Knoblauch will be a junior this fall at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, FL.

Brent is currently the vice president of his flight team, and is the founding vice president of the university’s Alpha Omicron Alpha aeronautical honor society -- only the third chapter of its kind nationwide. He serves as the lead director of Aviation Ambassadors, a group that promotes and fosters enrollment into the university’s aviation program and has also donated considerable time to a local middle school teaching students the basics of flight.

Outside of aviation, Brent serves on campus as a freshman resident peer mentor, and is also the incoming residence hall association president. He is carrying an impressive 3.9 grade point average and is a commercial pilot. After completing his degree, Brent plans to fly for the airlines and someday own his own sightseeing business.

The award is named in honor of Dr. Harold S. Wood, founder and past executive director of the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA). Given annually, the honor recognizes a top student enrolled in a NIFA member school that demonstrates academic excellence, promotes aviation on and off campus, and is an active participant in activities and community service outside of aviation.

GAMA is an international trade association headquartered in Washington, DC representing over 50 manufacturers of general aviation aircraft, engines, avionics and related equipment.
