Man Found With Concealed Knife At Detroit Metro

Had Booked One-Way Ticket To Yemen

A man traveling on a one-way ticket to Yemen instead got a one-way ticket to jail over the weekend... after he was booked on charges of carrying a weapon into the secure area of Detroit's Metro airport.

The weapon was reportedly a knife... one authorities say was "artfully concealed" inside a book, with its pages carved out so that the knife would fit perfectly.

Mohammad Ghanem, 21, is now jailed on a half-million dollar's bail. If convicted of possessing a weapon in the secure area of an airport, he could spend the next ten years behind bars.

"He said he didn't know where the knife came from," said Ghanem's attorney, Nabih Ayad, told the Detroit Free Press.

Born in Yemen, Ghanem is a legal permanent resident of the United States and works as a busboy in Hamtramck. Ayad says his client was flying back to his home country to get married.
