A Little Bit of Aero-History Returns...
For nearly two decades
(and spanning a number of publications), ANN Editor-In-Chief, Jim
Campbell, wrote an off the cuff column called "Barnstorming."
Outside of the many requests he gets for MORE flight tests, the
return of "Barnstorming" is one of the most popular requests he
continues to see. Barnstorming was often political, frequently
funny, usually weird, often outrageous or a combination of
all of the above. But -- they did get read... a lot. And certain
ones keep popping up in the course of various conversations or
emails (especially "Free As A Bird," "The Poker Game," and a few
others).
He got the hint...
Jim's decided it's time to get back to basics and let
Barnstorming out of the penalty box again. The frequency of
publication is yet to be determined... at least once a month... or
more, if something gets his attention -- and he's also promised to
dust off a few of the classic "Barnstorming" pieces he did over the
years and see if they stood the test of time or (as we expect)
kinda fell flat on their face. Either way, it should be
interesting.
So... keep your eyes out for the familiar old "Barnstorming"
name and logo(s); the content may tick you off, they may make you
shake your head and wonder what Campbell's been imbibing, or (best
of all) give you a reason to reflect on this aviation gig we love
so much... but we don't think it'll ever be boring. Keep your eyes
out... the first one out of the gate is expected to be a
doozy...
