Married In Microgravity Aboard G-Force One

Couple Becomes First For No-Gravity Nuptials

Some people describe their wedding day as being on Cloud 9, but for New York City couple Erin Finnegan and Noah Fulmor, Cloud 9 would have been a little weighty. That's because they became the first couple to be married in a micro-gravity ceremony aboard G-Force One, a specially modified B727 operated by Zero Gravity Corp, or ZERO-G, a company offering weightless flight experiences.

The bride wore white, though more of a pant suit than a dress to protect her modesty as the couple exchanged rings and vows floating in the padded cabin of the aircraft. The grooms tuxedo sported cuff links shaped like spacecraft. Reuters reports the couple fumbled their first kiss as a married couple as they struggled with the microgravity environment.

"It was weirder than I expected. ... I've been to a lot of boring weddings, so I wanted to do something different," Finnegan said following the ceremony. The groom shared her enthusiasm. "I've waited my whole life for this ... what I remember most was the feeling of weightlessness, both physically and emotionally," he said.

Richard Garriott, ZERO-G co-founder and a second- generation U.S. space traveler who is also a registered notary performed the ceremony.
