No, Were Not Talking About Snacks Or Sandwiches
Quick, you see a man
dressed in military fatigues trying to pull open the door of the
airliner you're on -- what do you do? Well, if you're Ken
Wolfenberger you get up and stop him -- at least, that's what he
did on United Airlines flight 890 out of Los Angeles en route to
Dulles Tuesday night.
Wolfenberger told the Associated Press that the man had been
acting strangely from the time they boarded. Three-and-a-half
hours into the flight, just when everyone was getting used to the
fatigues with Special Forces and jujitsu patches, the man wrapped
belts around his hands and started throwing punches in the air.
Wolfenberger says he heard a flight attendant yell for help, and
then yell at the man to take his hand off the handle.
"Any time you hear a flight attendant shout 'please help,' you
worry that something pretty bad is going to happen," he said.
That was enough to spur Wolfenberger and several other
passengers into action. They pummeled the war hero/martial arts
expert, wrestled him to the ground and held him until onboard Air
Marshals took him into custody.
The crew decided the Marshals and the passengers had the
situation under control. They continued to a scheduled, and
blissfully uneventful, landing at Dulles -- where the unruly
passenger got to spend some "quality" time with the FBI and airport
police.
Now, eventually people will figure out you can't do crazy things
on airliners in America any more, won't they?
