Wings Of Dreams Seeks Help Hosting First Women To Fly For The U.S. Military At The Event Next Month
For the seventh consecutive year, Wings of Dreams Aviation Museum will work with the Ninety Nines and SUN 'n FUN to organize a gathering of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) at the 2015 Annual Fly-In & Expo.
The museum said in a news release that it wants to honor the WASP, the first women to fly American military aircraft, for their service during World War II and their patriotism. It is especially important for our younger generations to meet these pioneers and hear their stories.
A tax-deductible donation of $500 or more will help us cover the costs of lodging and other incidental expenses for one WASP.
The museum will recognize all donors by placing their name on a display at the Ninety Nines building for the duration of the event. Donors of $500 or more will receive complimentary autographed photos of our visiting WASP.
The WASP will be based at the Ninety Nines building from April 22 through Saturday, April 25.
"The WASP service to our nation at a critical time in the history of the entire free world is not remarkable because they were women, but is remarkable in its own right. Their legacy to all military aviators, women and men alike, is the knowledge that perseverance, commitment, and the desire to serve can overcome tremendous obstacles. I know I was able to be a woman fighter pilot ... and a woman Thunderbird pilot because of the WASP."
