AD: Diamond Powered Sailplanes

AD NUMBER: 2011-21-16

MANUFACTURER: Diamond Aircraft Industries Powered Sailplanes
SUBJECT: Airworthiness Directive 2011-21-16
ACTION:Final rule

SUMMARY: The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Diamond Aircraft Industries Model H-36 ‘‘DIMONA' powered sailplanes. This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as:

A report has been received of a failed air brake control system torsion tube on a Diamond (formerly Hoffman) H 36 powered sailplane. The results of the subsequent investigation show that the failure was due to corrosion damage. This condition, if not detected and corrected, may lead to failure of the air brake control system in flight, resulting in reduced control of the aeroplane.

DATES: This AD is effective November 23, 2011.
