WAAS Up? Advanced IFR Refresher Seminar Will Tell You

Houston Next Stop For Traveling Seminar

The next in the continuing series of WAAS Seminars hosted by Progressive Aviation Services, LLC is coming up next weekend. The Houston WAAS & Advanced IFR Refresher Seminar will be held on April 4 at the West Houston Airport (IWS) in the main terminal building conference room.

As with other past locations, this seminar is open to anyone interested in WAAS operations and/or just looking for a good IFR refresher.  The seminar is NOT Cirrus-specific, per se, and is open to anyone.

The info presented is appropriate to current WAAS-pilots, and to pilots who are considering a WAAS upgrade and want to understand what they'd be buying beforehand. It is also an excellent review/overview of many IFR procedural items for all pilots.

Matthew McDaniel of Progressive Aviation Services, LLC, said, "The one-day seminar covers all aspects of WAAS operations, specifics related to all Garmin 400W & 500W-series avionics (as well as Garmin G1000 & Perspective and Avidyne Entegra avionics) and lots of generally related IFR procedural stuff that fits well into the flow of information presented.

"The seminar is guided by a custom PowerPoint Presentation I've developed and supplemented with paper handouts, internet sites, dry-erase board doodling and interactive participation between myself and you (the audience)," McDaniel said.

"Previously, about half the pilots in attendance were not Cirrus owners/pilots, but either had or wanted WAAS equipment in their current aircraft (Bonanza/Baron, Mooney, Meridian/Matrix/Malibu, Citation, and even Helicopters, etc). So, while the seminar will be Cirrus-centric, it's flexible enough for people flying other aircraft to get a lot out of it too."

A continental-style breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks will be provided at the seminar.  Doors open at 8 am. The actual teaching portion will begin at 9 am and should be done by 4:30 pm or so, depending on the number of questions and the discussions they generate.

Although pre-registration has already closed, Aero-News readers can qualify for the pre-registration price simply by telling organizers ANN sent you, a savings of $55.
