Pipistrel Panthera Crosses The Alps By Air

New Aircraft Flown To Germany For Aero Friedrichshafen

Pipistrel said in a news release Tuesday that its revolutionary new aircraft, Pipistrel Panthera, has flown over the Alps en route to Germany, where it will be displayed at AERO Friedrichshafen.

By flying the Panthera over the Alps to AERO Expo 2013, Pipistrel said it celebrated the success of achieving the first flight of Panthera less than a month ago. Now, less than 12 months from the first public presentation at AERO 2012, Panthera revisits the event– by air.

Panthera took off from the airfield in Ajdovšcina Tuesday morning (see above). About an hour and a half later, at 12:55 local time, she landed successfully at the airport in Friedrichshafen at the expo area (image below). The Panthera will be displayed on external grounds next to hall A2  for the full duration of the show. The design team members and the test pilots will be available near the aircraft throughout the expo to answer attendees' questions.

Pipistrel calls Panthera "a revolutionary 4-seat General Aviation airplane, capable of flying 4 people for 1000 NM, cruising at 200 kts, burning only 10 gallons of fuel per hour. With full composite construction with titanium retractable undercarriage, enhanced comfort and parachute rescue system standard, Panthera can be equipped with the conventional, hybrid, or all electric propulsion system."
