FlightView Lands Flight Tracking App Optimized For Android Tablets

New App Is The Only Flight Tracker Available For The Kindle Fire

FlightView has partnered with 3Beam Technologies to launch one of the only flight tracking apps optimized for Android tablets and the first-ever for the Kindle Fire. Unsatisfied with the industry standard of simply migrating smartphone apps to the tablet environment – FlightView’s new app is designed specifically for a tablet’s unique size and capabilities.

Tablet popularity has skyrocketed in the U.S. – Nielsen reports that tablet adoption has risen 400 percent in the past year – outpacing smartphones, gaming consoles, and connected TVs, while a new FlightView survey found that more than 36 percent of travelers now use tablets in-flight. Yet, until now, very few travel apps have been developed specifically for Android tablet devices, and none have been created for the Kindle Fire.

FlightView 2.5 for Android tablets, available in Free, Standard, and Elite versions – comes loaded with all the flight-tracking and day-of-travel mobile functionality that made its smartphone apps so popular, along with tablet-optimized design and navigation improvements, including:

  • More Intuitive Layout. FlightView users won’t be simply accessing the smartphone app on a larger screen – FlightView 2.5 offers an optimized design which takes advantage of the larger screen size to display a 2-panel layout, enabling users to view more travel information in one place.
  • Easier App Navigation. FlightView 2.5 offers the greatest ease-of-use experience for travelers by incorporating high-level buttons at the top of the screen to enable quick navigation to day-of-travel information.

The result: Android tablet users can track flights, monitor airport delays, share flight information and plan trip details faster and easier than ever before.

“There’s no denying the explosive use of mobile devices in the travel industry,” says Mike Benjamin, CEO of FlightView. “Travelers and those picking them up need more than information – they need information that’s displayed optimally for whatever device they use so it is easily accessible when and where they need it. Enhancing our app for the tablet is just another way we’re working to bring the best day-of-travel experience to our users, across all mobile devices.”
