TSA Screener Throws Hot Coffee At AA Pilot

Crewmember Had Asked Screener To Stop Swearing

A TSA employee has been arrested after an altercation in which she reportedly threw a cup of hot coffee at an off-duty pilot exiting a secure area at JFK Airport late last week.

The TSA employee was in a conversation with co-workers when she was overheard by off-duty AA pilot Steven Trivett, according to the London Daily Mail. He reportedly asked her to stop swearing, saying they should "conduct themselves more professionally in uniform," and not use certain racial epithets he says he overheard.

The TSA screener, 30-year-old Lateisha El, reportedly said Trivett should "mind his own business," and swore at him. Trivett said he was a TSA officer ... he was wearing a sidearm ... and allegedly attempted to grab El's ID badge to get her name. That's when she allegedly threw the full cup of hot coffee over his head.

There were no serious injuries reported in connection with the incident. El was charged with misdemeanor assault and harassment.
