"Our decision to increase our order has been made after an extensive review of the recent problems at Airbus and the delivery schedule delays of the A380. We are convinced that these problems relate to industrialisation issues at Airbus and will be remedied, and in no way relate to the technical capacity of the A380."

Source: Qantas Airlines Chief Executive Geoff Dixon, commenting on its surprise decision to exercise options for eight more Airbus A380 aircraft -- at a time when several airlines are talking about cancelling orders for the troubled plane. As part of the "attractive" deal, Qantas also ordered four A330-200s to help the Australian airline deal with capacity issues raised by the significant delay in delivery of its first A380s.
