Is Reportedly The Subject Of Multiple Inspector General Investigations
Maj. Gen. Dawn Dunlop, who is the highest-ranking female fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force, has been relieved from her job as the head of the director of the Defense Department's Special Access Programs Central Office (SAPCO)— which manages and oversees some of the military's most highly classified programs.
Maj. Gen. Dunlop is the subject of multiple Inspector General investigations, according to a report from the Air Force Times. The exact nature of the investigations was not reported, and she has not elected to comment on the situation.
A source who requested anonymity told the Air Force Times that Dunlop "fostered a toxic work environment", calling senior leaders from the services "idiots" and would "scream" at Army and Air Force personnel on the phone. The source said she lost her temper with senior Air Force civilians during a meeting on May 31, and she was immediately removed as the head of SAPCO.
Dunlop is an Air Force Academy graduate with more than 3,500 flight hours in F-15, F-16 and F-22 aircraft, along with others. She is the highest-ranking female fighter pilot in the Air Force. She was also the first woman to become a fighter test pilot, fly an F-22, and command a test pilot wing when she was placed in command of the 412th Test Wing.
Dunlop is currently serving as a special assistant to Vice Chief of Staff Gen. Seve Wilson, according to an email to the Air Force Times from DoD spokesman Lt. Col. Mike Andrews. She may be considering retirement, according to the report.
