STC's Granted To Rockwell Collins For LPV Upgrades

Broadens Airport Access For Falcon 50, Beechjet 400A/Hawker 400XP Operators

Operators of Dassault Falcon 50 aircraft equipped with Pro Line 21 avionics and Beechjet 400A/Hawker 400XP aircraft equipped with Pro Line 4 avionics will broaden their access to more than 2,300 airports with Localizer Performance with Vertical guidance (LPV) approaches through LPV upgrade Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) from Rockwell Collins. The announcement was made Wednesday at the Aircraft Electronics Association's (AEA) Convention and Trade Show.

With 22 LPV STCs, Rockwell Collins is the leading provider of Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS)/LPV solutions for Part 25 aircraft manufactured by Bombardier, Cessna, Dassault, Gulfstream, and Hawker Beechcraft.

The STCs, held by Rockwell Collins and available through the company's network of certified dealers, will give operators access to LPV approaches in North America with CAT I equivalent minimums.

The LPV certification complements Rockwell Collins' STC to upgrade the entire Pro Line 21 and Pro Line 4 fleet to the company's WAAS-capable GPS-4000S receiver. Upgrades to the GPS-4000S allow operators to simplify operations by using GPS as primary means of navigation and to eliminate the time-consuming Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (RAIM) check. WAAS improves the availability and integrity of GPS navigation for all classes of aircraft in all flight operations, including en route navigation as well as airport departure and arrival procedures.
