Amazon Makes First U.S. Drone Package Delivery

Carries Sunscreen To Participants In The MARS2017 Conference In CA

The first package delivery by Amazon Prime in the U.S. was a box of sunscreen for participants in the MARS2017 conference in Palm Springs, CA.

GeekWire reports that the delivery was a demonstration at the conference. In a video shot on a smartphone by conference attendee Jason Johnson, the Amazon quadcopter flies over a lawn at the resort where the conference was being held, dropping off a package, and flying away. Attendee Corbett Moran, who is a finalist for NASA's next astronaut class, said that there was sunscreen inside the package.

Amazon has been testing its delivery drones in the U.K., but this is reportedly the first time such a delivery has taken place in the U.S.

MARS is an acronym for Machine learning home Automation, Robotics and Space exploration. It is only open to a select few.
