SpaceX Subject Of Class Action Lawsuit

Plaintiffs Say Company Did Not Give Proper Notice Before 'Massive' Layoff

A group of former SpaceX employees have filed a class action lawsuit against SpaceX, claiming they were not given proper notice before being laid off last month.

According to the complaint filed August 4th in the Superior Court of California-Los Angeles County, the group says that the company did not give proper notice as required by the California Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.

The Washington Examiner reports that the court documents say that the suit is being brought by the plaintiffs "on their own behalf, and on behalf of other similarly situated former employees who worked for defendants and who were abruptly terminated as part of or as a result of mass layoffs ordered by defendants on…July 21…and within…30 days of that date, and who were not provided 60 days advance written notice of their terminations by defendants, as required by the California Labor Code.”

The plaintiffs say that the proposed class is made up of all non-exempt employees who had worked at the company's California facilities within the previous four years. They are seeking unspecified back pay and compensatory damages.
