Aero-News Picture Of The Day (08.31.04)

Cool Day, Hot Air

This photo was taken by ANN Contributor Rose Dorcey at the Children's Miracle Network Balloon Rally in Wisconsin Rapids (WI) on Saturday morning, August 28, 2004. The event raises funds for the Children's Miracle Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping kids by raising funds for 170 children's hospitals across North America. Organized by balloon pilot, skydiver, and Wisconsin Rapids lawyer, John Symonds, the event has raised over $20,000 for use in Central Wisconsin.

Many of the balloon pilots said they attend this balloon rally solely because it is a charity event. Marsha Zahasky, Marshfield (WI) has participated in the event since its inception four years ago. Her husband, Tom, flew the Children's Miracle Network balloon. "It's great to see this event growing," she said. "Each year we help raise more money for CMN."
