Women In Corporate Aviation To Award $50K+ In Scholarships At Member Luncheon

Fifteen Professionals Will Receive Financial Awards During NBAA2015

Women in Corporate Aviation (WCA) will award more than $50,000 in training scholarships to 15 aviation professionals at its annual scholarship luncheon at noon on November 18 at the NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas. During the WCA luncheon sponsored by Alaska Aerofuel, Phoenix Air, Signature Flight Support and Universal Weather & Aviation, members and guests will receive a complimentary lunch and the ability to network with industry peers.

“WCA has had an incredible year raising nearly 80,000 in scholarship funds,” said Stacey Kotrla, President, Women in Corporate Aviation. “I am grateful to our leadership team, sponsors and volunteers because we could not have done it without their relentless support.”

The aviation training scholarships will be divided among the following recipients:

  • Audeen Bashita and Stephanie Morriss each won a $5,000 Gulfstream scholarship to further their education, professional development or career advancement in corporate maintenance aviation technology.
  • Ciara Peterson won a $22,000 CAE SimuFlite scholarship to attend Citation Jet 3 initial simulator training.
  • Dawn Sharp won a $3,995 Susan C. Friedenberg Corporate Flight Attendant Training scholarship to attend a four-day corporate flight attendant training program.
  • Sue Rusk won a $1,122 MedAire scholarship for a two-day aviation medical course.
  • Nicola Hubert, Adamo Spring and Morgan Garlinge each won a $3,000 Universal Weather and Aviation scholarship to be used toward their attainment of a FAA dispatch license.
  • Lauren Sherrick won a $3,000 Signature Flight Support Corporation Scholarship
  • Sandra Jimeson won a $4,675 Aircare FACTS scholarship to attend a five-day initial or two-day recurrent emergency procedures training course.
  • Rachel Borsa won a $1,700 Air Training International for an international flight procedures training.
  • Nadine Annika Meichsner and Kate Keogh won a $1,500 leadership scholarship, sponsored by Women in Corporate Aviation and The Home Depot Aviation Department, to assist in their professional development.
  • Christine Zavodnik won a $2,000 Women in Corporate Aviation career scholarship sponsored by Women in Corporate Aviation and Johnson Controls Inc. to assist in her professional development.
  • Christine Young won a $2,000 Women in Corporate Aviation career scholarship to assist in her professional development.

WCA and its sponsors also distributed $17,000 in training scholarships at the 2015 Women in Aviation conference, bringing the total scholarship fund for the year to $79,000.
