Diamond's New Factory On Historic Site

It's 'Living History,' of Sorts

Diamond Aircraft employees at the manufacturing facility in Austria were evacuated recently after two unexploded bombs were found while excavating for the foundation of a new 100,000 sq ft composite facility there.

One innovative airplane follows another...

During World War II, while Central Aircraft Ltd. built DeHavilland Mosquito bombers for allied use on the site where Diamond’s North American manufacturing plant is located, the Wiener-Neustadt Airport where the European plant is located in Austria, was the production site of thousands of Messerschmitt Me 109 fighter planes and thus was a target of heavy allied bombing.

Diamond is building the facility, and the company has been hiring in Europe and in North America in response to increased demand for its products and the upcoming production of the DA42 Twin Star and the recently-announced D-JET.
