FAA records indicate the pilot of the Skyhawk lost control "for
unknown reasons" during the takeoff-climb phase of the flight. The
pilot was not injured in the accident, but the aircraft was
substantially damaged.
The 172 is registered to Helicopter Structural and Maintenance
Inc of Lutz, FL DBA Tampa North Aero Services. Television station
WFTS in Tampa reports that witnesses said the airplane seemed to
skid off the runway on takeoff, and impacted two cars at a nearby
business. There was reportedly no fire or fuel leakage from the
accident.
